Choosing Apartment Floors

When you are looking for a flat to rent, one of the factors you may have to do is which floor you would rather live on. Each of them offers something different, so this is a question that is worth considering before making a choice. Here we look at the differences between the apartment on the highest, middle and ground floor.

Top floor

The top floor is one of the favourite places among many tenants for many reasons. For one, it is usually considered the most private option, especially if there is nobody else on the floor with you. You just have to catch the lift up and you are far away in your small world.

Also, as any science student will tell you, the heat grows. This means that you will always have the chance to save some money on heating bills, which others in the apartment block will not have.

And you won’t have to deal with neighbours above you. Hearing the steps all day long is a problem that many people will simply not have to deal with, so you’ll notice that the apartment on the top floor is usually much quieter, assuming you don’t have to deal with any noisy neighbor.

Middle floors

On the middle floors you can sometimes get some bad rap, but it’s not all bad. In most cases you will have to deal with noise from the floor, unless there is some form of insulation or sound insulation between floors that avoids you hearing steps. A noisy neighbour beneath you can also only exacerbate this problem.

However, as with the upper floor, you can also get the added benefit of increasing heat. Of course, you will still have to heat the apartment yourself, but this means that you will probably save some money.

Many people also like the middle floor for safety reasons. Living on the ground floor is much easier to break in than the one that requires a burglar to climb the stairs, so you will get it a little bit of privacy and security that is not available to people on the lower floors.

Ground floor

The main advantage of living on the ground floor is that you have much more comfort. There is no climbing stairs up and down, which makes it much easier to grab shopping or bring furniture.
Unfortunately, you’ll be at the end of the heat loss problem growing, so heating an apartment on the ground floor will cost more and you’ll probably find that the apartment cools down faster than you’d like.

An unexpected advantage is that the ground floor flats are pet friendly, assuming that they can be maintained first. After all, you don’t have to try and transport your pet up and down the stairs, so it’s much easier for them to get outside when they need it.
